Founder Foreword.
From the moment I opened the doors of my shack in Mfuleni to care for 18 children in 2008, I knew I was walking a road built not only on faith but on purpose. My journey—marked by hardship, abandonment, and deep personal trauma—could have silenced me. But through grace and healing, I found strength in my pain. That strength became INJONGO, which means purpose in isiXhosa.
INJONGO Educare began as a safe space for children who, like me, needed to be seen, protected, and loved. Over the years, it has grown into a haven for over 125 children daily—thanks to the support of our community, partners, and dedicated team. What was once a shack is now a structured learning centre with converted containers, classrooms, playgrounds, and hope.
But my vision has never been limited to survival. It has always reached for transformation. That is why I am proud to introduce the next chapter: INJONGO Academy—a bold step toward providing innovative, accessible private education for children in our township who would otherwise be left behind.
INJONGO Academy is more than a school. It is a dream planted in the soil of suffering and watered by the tears of experience, now blooming into something powerful. Our mission is to nurture future leaders, thinkers, and change-makers. To break cycles of poverty through education. And to prove that even from forgotten places, greatness can rise.
